I know you already received an answer over at SprintMogul.net, however just in case someone else wonders the same question I'll reiterate the answer. Phone sold in Europe are GSM while Sprint is CMDA. I would be very surprised if a fold sold overseas would work on Sprint. Personally, I've had no trouble getting them to activate any compatible phone by calling customer support, so if you find someone selling a CMDA version I think your chances would be good (no guarantees).
